Our First Adventure - The Cotswolds

Last weekend saw the dawn of a new era.... the motorhoming life!

It was our very first adventure in Wurtlefkey.

Setting off on our first adventure - only 22 miles on the clock

Racing home on Friday evening we were both so excited that we were going to pick up our new toy, we walked around the corner to our storage facility and proudly bought her home to load up.  Seriously we were like proud parents "yes she is ours!" was written all over our faces as we darted between house and motorhome with more clothes, food, and drinks to load her up, whilst neighbors and passers by looked on with curiosity.

On our first adventure
We set off around 5pm to pick up Monkey - having returned from his foreign vacation all relaxed and suntanned, he was going to "slum" it with us for a couple of days in the Cotswolds so we could all enjoy our first adventure together.

The journey wasn't too bad at all, Wolf drove up to Midlands, I drove from the midlands to the Campsite.  She was a great drive, smooth, comfortable and not too cumbersome.  We both settled in to driving a large vehicle quite easily.

The M5 on a Friday in any direction is just awful to be honest, I LOVE where we live but the summer months are hellacious on the roads, (but don't get me started or I will be here all day ranting) so we arrived in Cirencester at about 10pm.  Oh the absolute joy of parking up and plugging in as opposed to pitching a tent is still something we relish.  So a quick camping favourite for dinner - a can of "veggie sausage and beans" on toast for the boys, and alphabetti spaghetti for me (no, I haven't grown out of them) before we settled down to watch a bit of television and then bedtime.

Bedtime was infact not as "quiet" as one would expect - owing to the novelty of having double bunkbeds, the whole affair was quite entertaining, there was much debate about who should sleep on top, and both sides put forth valiant arguments, but the adults pulled the "that's the way it is card" and ultimately slept in the top bunk.  Much to Monkey's dismay and so he would randomly pop his head up to "surprise" us when we were drifting off to sleep. Then there is also the obligatory getting up to pee in the night because the novelty of having a toilet in the motorhome still hasn't worn off

Having not seen much of the campsite due to our late arrival, Saturday morning we were up bright and early (9:30am) for breakfast, shower and off to explore.

We had a great weekend!  The site had plenty to do, we had specifically chosen it for that reason, British Summers can vary between blazing sunshine, hurricane force winds, and monsoon style rain showers, we wanted to make sure all eventualities were covered (and that we weren't stuck in a motorhome with a bored 12 year old).  Swimming was a favourite, with two pools and a waterslide we were spoilt for choice.  There was a crazy golf course, so we continued with our "World Crazy Golf Championship" - the loser had to make tea for the rest of the time we were there, much fun was had by all.  Crazy golf has become our "thing" - whenever we go anywhere there is generally always a crazy golf or pitch and putt course, which inevitably results in some kind of challenge.....Funnily enough shortly after our golf challenge, Wolf decided it was time to unpitch and go home and there wasn't time for a cup of tea - guess who lost the golf?!!

We had a great weekend, with plenty to do and we all really enjoyed staying in the motorhome.  Whilst we do love camping, and have no plans as yet to give that up, we are certainly enjoying some of the luxuries that a motorhome allows - a toilet in the middle of the night, comfortable seats, warmth,  a simple and easy pitch and unpitch, not to mention that in more inclement weather its a much more enjoyable experience.

So with our first adventure drawing to a close we headed back home.

Monkey ready for the drive home

After a round trip of 328 miles - 7 hours of driving

...we were back home and looking forward to our next adventure!
